| Frequently Asked Questions | |
1. ProNav takes longer to generate a route than my old satnav, why?
Regular satnav systems can go anywhere on the road network, so its much easier for them to find a route quickly. ProNav has to work out the best route for your vehicle type and take into consideration all of the possible restrictions along your route based on your vehicles size. Sometimes, the longer the route, the longer the calculation time but generally its only 20-30 seconds longer. Please be patient though, as waiting a few extra moments for ProNav is better that time you'll lose getting stuck down a country lane! |
|
2. When I try to enter a height in ProNav, it does not recognise the inches?
ProNav had a minor bug and this can be easily fixed by downloading and installing the latest Update Pack (see section above). |
|
3. Windows Vista wont recognise my ProNav personal navigation device?
Windows Vista comes with a pre-installed version of Microsoft ActiveSync. For a trouble shooting guide please Click Here (opens new website). |
|
4. When I start ProNav it says my safety camera software is due to expire?
If you have just purchased your ProNav software then you will need to register to obtain your six month free safety camera trial. To register for your safety camera trial please Click Here

5. I have installed the Update Pack, but when I press the Navigation icon from the main start up screen, the ProNav software fails to start, why?
Please ensure that the unit is set to start up from the supplied SD card, and not its internal memory. To do this, press the Toolbox icon on the main screen. Then press the button that looks like a microchip on the next screen (located in the bottom right hand corner). Make sure the box on the left is ticked on the next screen. If the box on the right is ticked, ProNav will not start up, since the software is located on the SD card, not the GPS hardware’s internal memory.

|
6. When I try to install the update pack I get a 'Cannot remove obsolete file' error message.
This occurs when your SD card is set to write protect (lock). Your SD card is located on the side of your ProNav and to remove it, push it in slightly and it will then pop out of the slot. On the side of the SD card you will notice a small white switch that can move up and down, move it to the unlock position. When re-inserting your SD card back into your ProNav make sure you have it the right way round, with the metal strips going into the device first. Once completed reconnect your device to your PC and run the update pack again. |
|
7. ProNav won't retain settings including favourite and recent locations.
|
8. When I start driving the mapping looks 2D and zoomed out along way, why? The mapping is incorrectly configured to full zoom and you should install the update pack (above) to correct this issue.
|
|
9. Why does my clock reset itself to 12.00 when ever I turn off my ProNav?
When your turn off your ProNav use the button located on the top of your device, next to the GPS sunken lettering. DO NOT use the On/Off switch located at the back of the device, as this is the hard reset switch. |
|
10. Why does my ProNav take a while to get a GPS signal
The first time you use your ProNav it will take a while to download all the data its needs to get a proper GPS lock. Thereafter your ProNav should obtain a GPS lock quite quickly. However you should ensure that you use the button located on the top of your device (next to the GPS sunken lettering) to turn it on and off. Do NOT use the ON/OFF switch located on the back of your ProNav because this is the hard reset switch and ProNav will take longer to get a GPS lock this way. |

11. After I have installed Microsoft Activesync I get an error message saying ' Cannot verify the version of activesync on your device' why?
There is an issue with some laptops and PC's that after you install Microsoft Activesync and connect your ProNav, it displays the message ' cannot verify the version of activesync on your device'. If this message is displayed please uninstall your version of Activesync (via Control Panel, Add and Remove Programs) and then download and install Activesync version 3.8. Click Here to download (opens third party site) and select version (build 5004) from HPC:Factor. There is also a good installation guide below the download area and make sure you DO NOT connect your ProNav until after you have installed Activesync. |
